Squash Boats

Randy and I harvested the remainder of our garden before the hard frost ruined everything. We had neglected a couple of HUGE zucchinis. For family home evening we took the kids to Mac park today to turn them into squash boats.

We hollowed them out then set them in the water to test them out. Randy struggling to get his big canoe to float.

Claire picked a yellow one and named it "HOCUS POCUS".

Thumbs up on the test run in the river. Hocus Pocus was sea worthy.

Brad picked a big green one and named his "HEAVY HARRY".

After all the designs were approved we were ready to send them down river.

Brad to the rescue!!!

They would get stuck on the rocks so we had to help them a little bit.

Harrison enjoyed the view from the grass.

We found a good spot on the river where they floated on their own for a distance so brad and Claire raced their boats.

When we were all done they threw rocks at the boats to capsize and sink them. I thing Brad and Randy enjoyed that part the most.

This just may have to be a yearly tradition.
