My Halloweenies
We had a great Halloween.
Since the holiday landed on Sunday we decided to have everyone over for a Halloween weekend like we did last year. This might be the last one for a while since next year it falls on a week night again.
Randy's parents came Friday night. Nanny brought new Halloween pajamas and socks. Nanny is a Halloween nut like me and she made the cutest Halloween blanket to snuggle and read Halloween books. The kids loved it. Claire was trying so hard to stay awake. She could barely keep her eyes open. Finally she gave in and put her head on Nanny's shoulder. Nanny reads to them a lot so some of the Halloween books they have memorized. They were all chanting the words together. I think I will have the words "Shake shake shake them bones now" burned in my memory permanently.
The rest of the crowd showed up late Friday night and Saturday morning. Steven showed us how to make the coolest trees out of wire. Steven is seriously so artistic. I don't know how he comes up with these ideas. We all got to keep one. Thanks Steven for arts and crafts hour.
In the afternoon Randy said he would like to burn the remnants of our garden. All the boys raced outside with gas cans torches and pitchforks. Holy cow these boys are pyromaniac freaks. They made quite a spectacle. I think the neighbors thought we were setting off bombs with all the gas and flames. They even had a leaf blower to encourage larger flames. After that they helped Randy fine tune his new riding lawn mower. I think the lawn was mowed at least 4 times this weekend.
The rest of the day we ate, napped and played games. Brad went to his friends Halloween party.
Randy and I started carving intricate pumpkins years ago. This year only a few people carved pumpkins. But they were awesome.
Matt carved Pres Monson. Tori carved Harry Potter and Steven carved Davey Jones. Brad helped me carve the Jack O Lantern.
Then it was time to put on the costumes.
Steven and Kari were Ginger-ham Lincoln and Blond Wilkes Booth. Ginger as defined in the Urban dictionary is: A human, characterized by pale skin, freckles and bright red hair. It was so funny and perfect. I suggest that next year Steven, Aaron and Brad dress up as the Gingerteers. I loved growing up with that many red heads.
Tori was Dietmar for Halloween. Quest shirt, sweatpants, and moccasins. It was hilarious. Diet works from home so his boys have teased him for years about his formal work attire.
Randy found a hideous wig that he wore all weekend. He even wore it to school . He said the professor would look at him an loose his train of thought. It was so nasty. I could barely look at him. The nasty mustache just tops off all the grossness. I think we lost some neighborhood friends. They are going to have to hide away their kids from the new pedophile looking Randy.
Mat Randy and Tim and Steven sat on the porch as usual and scared some of the older kids. Claire was not sure about uncle mat in this costume. She would stand in front of him and just stare.
After trick or treating we roasted hot dogs on the fire pit and visited with friends and family. Tiko and Morgan Heaps came over with their kids. After the sugar rush I put the kids in the tub and then to bed. They crashed HARD.
After church on Sunday we had a nice dinner then more lounging and visiting. I had to work Sunday night, but the boys stayed to watch the Jazz game.
It was really a great weekend. I hate it when they end.

I love that Randy wore the wig to class. What an awesome idea! Also, the leaf blower cracked me up!
Jenny,
You are amazing, how do you do it all. The mummy is so awesome and I don't recognize any of the wraps from work. That seriously doesn't even look like Brad.
And those pumpkins, oh my gosh! Those must have taken forever.
It's so neat that you have so much family that comes up and visits.
WHERE WAS MY INVITE?!?!
