6 Random things:
** I can recite every word to “The Princess Bride”. When I am watching it I can’t help but say every word out loud. In fact not a soul will watch it with me. I can’t help it. That is a movie I have to watch on my own.
** I love the taste of anything sour. Vinegar, lime, lemon….Yummm. When I was little I used to pour vinegar in a spray bottle and spray it in my mouth. I wonder why my enamel is almost non-existent.
** When I was 16 I had a run of speeding tickets. After my 4th ticket in a 2 month span I had to go to court and stand in front of a judge. I was terrified. I always considered myself to be a well behaved teen, so facing the law was horrifying. She almost took my license away but took pity on me and put me on probation for 6 months. I haven’t sped since that day.
** I can’t stand the sight sound or thought of paper touching my teeth. My siblings know this and find humor in munching on napkins at the dinner table. It makes my jaw lock up and my body cringe just typing this paragraph.
**I don’t wear a ton of jewelry. However, I make an exception for earings. I love to don a pair. It makes me feel feminine and slightly dressy when I feel frumpy.
**I have a horrible memory. If I don’t write it down or have someone else remember it for me I forget it. Blogging has been a miracle for my memories. I actually recall most of last year.

DETECTIVE BRADLEY AT YOUR SERVICE
DETECTIVE BRADLEY: Mom we seem to have a problem in my room.
MOM: Oh yah? Like what?
DETECTIVE BRADLEY : Claire did something really bad
MOM: I am sorry officer…what has my daughter done now?
DETECTIVE BRADLEY: You might want to come and see for yourself.
DETECTIVE BRADLEY: Claire stole the church bag. Unfortunately she also pilfered the snack sack. She is also being charged with defacing a public bedroom floor and mocking an officer of law.
MOM: I am so sorry officer… I assure you this won’t happen again.
DETECTIVE BRADLEY: Luckily she cooperated with the local police and turned herself in. She seems to be pretty remorseful for her actions. I predict the jury will be soft with her and only sentence her to a nap. Worst case scenario smaller cookie rations for lunch.
MOM: Thank you officer. We need more honest and thoughtful people like you to keep this household free from injustice. How can I ever repay you?
DETECTIVE BRADLEY: Can I vacuum the floor???
MOM: You betcha!!!!

Claire's first shiner
Valentine: a sweetheart chosen to receive a greeting on Saint Valentine's Day
I don’t mean to post about breakfast twice in one week but I couldn’t help it. We celebrated Valentines all day long. We started the morning with pink waffles with red almond syrup.
Then Brad and I made some Valentines for the neighbors. We went to Nanny and Papa’s house and the kids got spoiled with new boxers for brad and pajama pants for Claire. We came home…put the kids to bed…then had an adult dinner with some adult conversation. We had cheese fondue with Steven, Kari, Kamie and Timmy.
It was a wonderful day. Happy Valentine ’s Day to my sweet babies and my dear husband.
Will you be mine? Valentine Hubby Tag
What are your middle names? Jenny (no middle name) and Randy Todd
How long have you been together? We have been married for 8 years and met 13 years ago.
How long did you know each other before you started dating? I met him my junior year in High School in a seminary class. We started dating about half way through our junior year.
Who asked who out? I asked Randy out for the first time. I was ditched by a boy I was dating. I had an extra ticket to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat starring one of the Osmonds. I called Randy about 2 hours before the show started so he didn’t have enough time to decline the invitation.
How old are each of you? Randy and I are both 28 we will be 29 in May.
Do you have any children together? two- Brad and Claire
What about pets? None yet. One day we want an outside dog with a dog run. Hopefully Brad will be old enough by then to feed it and pick up its poop. I would also love to have a chicken coop so we can have fresh eggs in the morning.
Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple? Deciding what we want to do. We are so indecisive when it comes to making a choice when we are out and about. I don’t mind a crowd but Randy cannot stand it.
Did you go to the same school? Same High School but different Colleges
Are you from the same home town? Randy is from Sandy and I grew up in Midvale.
Who is the smartest? Randy has a better memory by LEAPS and BOUNDS. We have studied totally different fields so I am smarter in my field and he is smarter in his field.
Who is the most sensitive? OBVIOUSLY me
Where do you eat out most as a couple?
Sit down restaurant- Chilis
Deli- Siegfieds
With the kids- a Del Taco with a playground
Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple? Hawaii
Who has the craziest exes? Probably me… Randy dear Janed me on his mission. Some of the people I dated while he was gone were either rebound or a means to get back at him.
Who has the worst temper? Randy has the bigger temper, but he can get over it REALLY quickly. When I get mad, I stay mad for a long time.
Who does the cooking? Me 99.9% of the time. Sometimes Randy will pour us a bowl of cereal.
Who is more social? I think we are equally social
Who is the neat Freak? I like things clean and tidy…but Randy is THE neat freak. It is so nice to have a husband who is constantly picking up the house.
Who is the more stubborn? If you ask me I would say Randy but I am SURE he would say it was me.
Who hogs the bed? Randy. I get just a little sliver of the bed. It is even worse in the morning when the kids jump in our bed with us.
Who wakes up earlier? We wake up at the same time. But if there is a chance to sleep in, it is usually Randy that does. (If 8:00 is considered sleeping in.)
Where was your first date? Gepettos for dinner…Joseph and the Amazing Technocolor Dream coat at Kingsburry hall… then a hike up Bell canyon.
Who has the bigger family? I have one more sibling than Randy but my extended family is about four times as big as his.
Do you get flowers often? I used to get them ALL of the time. It has been a while since I got them. (I sure hope Randy reads this!!!)
How do you spend the holidays? With family. We try to take turns every other year with my family and his so we don’t have to rush from party to party. That way we can devote ourselves to one party. It has worked really well for us.
Who eats more? Me, I could crush Randy in an eating contest.
Who does/ did the laundry? I do the bulk of the laundry. If I don’t get it all done before Randy comes home from work he will tie up the loose ends.
Who’s better with the computer? Randy, I am a computer idiot.
Who drives when you are together? Randy…the man of the house. I love that he is willing to be the permanent chauffeur for our family.
I would love to hear all about you and your hubby!!! Tag you are it.

Flash Back Friday
So this is not a flash back picture…but a flashback memory. Growing up my mom ALWAYS got up early to make us a hot breakfast. My mother was amazing. To this day I still LOVE a hot breakfast. I have really tried to do the same for my children. (PLEASE don’t mistake me for my mother… We eat cold cereal about 50% of the time…with a piece of buttery toast…and sometimes jam) Brad’s favorite breakfast is eggs and waffles. If it were up him we would have it for breakfast lunch and dinner. Randy’s favorite is egg burritos. As you can see we eat a LOT of eggs. Anyway, I was getting so bored with the same thing every morning so I decided to branch out a bit and make one of my favorites growing up.
I LOVE hot cereal. Cream of Wheat…talk about nostalgia!! My favorite part is the melted brown sugar. I love how it melts then gets a little crispy. I even stole some of Claire’s whole milk to pour around the cereal moat. I was so excited.
My little family didn’t share my same enthusiasm. Brad loved the first few bites. The brown sugar topping was gone within a minute and he quickly informed me that he didn’t like the white part. Randy has never liked hot cereal so he pushed it around with his spoon and pretended to eat it for Brads sake and because I was giving him the “don’t refuse food in front of your kids” stink eye.
Claire joined me in my nostalgia. It must have reminded her of her old rice cereal from infantcy. She ate it up… With a smile…it warmed my heart…just like the creamy wheat. I think Claire and I will have it every Thursday. The boys can have Captain Crunch.

Won't you take me to Funky Town
I have been in a blog funk lately. Maybe it is the crappy weather or the sudden move… I am really not sure why.
It needs to end because it makes me feel crummy when I don’t record things that make me smile, feel happy, grimace, laugh or contribute to my evolving gray hair and wrinkles.
Things that make me smile:
-On Saturday we wanted to take the kids somewhere fun. They have been cooped up lately. We were going to take them to the Museum to see the dino bones but didn’t want to drive that far. The closest next best thing was Cabellas. That place is its own museum. Too bad we didn’t bring our swim suits. Claire wanted to dive in and snorkel with the trout. We fed the fish, looked at some stuffed road kill and went to the shooting gallery. We felt very cultured and refined as we departed. And saved some $$cash$$.
-I went to dinner with my 2 best friends Jes and Katie from good old Hillcrest High. It was fun to reminisce about people we thought were great, weird, snobby, smelly….you get the picture. Thanks to blogs, facebook, and the occasional run in, we gave each other the low down on old acquaintances.
-Claire has just started saying a few words besides the constant babbling. She can successfully say Jesus, shoes, and Ba Ba Bamba (from the catchy Latin song LaBamba) She even dances while saying it.
Things that make me laugh:
-Brad told me in the car yesterday that I was the best chef. (I didn’t know he knew that word) I replied “Oh ya, what do you like that mommy makes?”
His reply “Sandwiches, cereal and eggs”
That’s right… I make a big impression with my gourmet cooking. He could have at least mentioned my spaghettios. I can open a wicked can of those.
Things that make me feel happy:
-We went to the Draper Temple open house last week. Randy’s dad was an usher so he got us in the secret back way with no lines. It was really nice. At the end of the tour we asked Brad what his favorite part of the temple was and he said it was the big tent outside. It must have been the craftsmanship of the poles or maybe it was the rope that tied it down…I am not sure but it made a big impression on Brad.
-The last few times I have sorted laundry, Claire thinks it is dress up time. She loves to drape my pants around her neck and cover herself in the finest of cotton. I really need to buy this girl some dress ups.
Things that make me grimace or contribute to evolving gray hair and wrinkles:
-Claire has had a few strangles of hair in the back by her neck left over from infancy. I have been debating whether or not to cut them. I have pulled out scissors a couple of times and then chickened out. I just wanted the back of her hair to be even. I finally rallied all my courage and trimmed those 2 or 3 little hairs. I should have done this months ago. It looks so much better. (I just hope the female mullet doesn’t come back into style or I will feel bad I took it away from her.) Don’t worry… I the scissors are in the drawer for good. Her next haircut I will pay a professional. I don’t think I dare attempt that again.
-Since moving so far away we decided to pull Brad out of his pre-school in upscale Sandy. I just couldn’t justify commuting that far 3 times a week. He has had 1 ½ years of pre-school and I consider him Kindergarten ready. We have been working at home with him. He practices letters and cutting and gluing an all that Kindergartenish stuff. We have also found some pretty good websites that he can play letter and math games. Any suggestion would be great. I am new to this home-school stuff. Any encouragement is welcome. I still get guilty tinges for taking him out of pre-school early.
-For the last few weeks Randy and I have been house hunting on our day off. This paragraph belongs in all of the categories. It is such a roller coaster of emotions. It is exciting, exhausting, fun and frustrating. There are a lot of houses on the market that haven't sold and each one has some kind of flaw that I don't like. Since I have a few months to shop I feel I have the right to be a bit picky. There doesn't seem to be any new houses entering the market because people don't want to sell their house right now. The hunt continues while I continue to collect more gray hairs.
Things I am ashamed to admit:
I have an eating disorder and a drinking problem.
AHHH that feels so much better. I promise to be a better more consistent poster and photographer. Sorry about some of the blurry pics. I took most of them with my phone.
